Introduction to deliverance

Deliverance is the Greek root word Apolutrosis pronunced ap-ol-oo’-tro-sis, before we delve into the meaning of the word Apolutrosis we need to first understand its composition. The word is composed of two other Greek words Apo (apo’) and Lutron (loo’-tron ).

First let’s define the word Apo, Apo means “of separation of a part from the whole” or “any kind of separation of one thing from another by which the union or fellowship of the two is destroyed”. The sacred scripture in Colossians 1:13 declare that God through the work of the cross separated us from the kingdom of darkness by destroying our union and fellowship with the power of darkness.

Colossians 1:13 King James Version (KJV)
13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Though Jesus delivered (separated man from sin and death by destroying his union and fellowship with the devil) us from the devil, we must also note that it was not without a price that He delivered us, which brings us to our next word Lutron. Lutron means “the price for redeeming or for the ransom of life”. It was with a price that Christ liberated us from misery and the penalty of sin. Christ paid a price to separate us from the slavery and captivity to sin and death by destroying our union and fellowship with the devil. The sacred scripture declare that you are not your own for you were bought with a price.

1 Corinthians 6:20 King James Version (KJV)
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Corinthians 7:23 King James Version (KJV)
23Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

It should be now clear in your mind than never before that God through the death of the cross not only separated us from sin and death by destroying our union and fellowship with the devil’s sphere of influenceof but he also paid a price to completely set us free. In conclusion, the word Apolutrosis means “a releasing effected by payment of ransom of life or liberation procured by the payment of a ransom of life”.

Upon you accepting the work that God did in Christ through the cross, God created and recreated your spirit after the image and the likeness of God by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. The part of man that was created after the image and likeness of God is the spirit of man not the body and soul.

Titus 3:5 King James Version (KJV)
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Ephesians 2:10 King James Version (KJV)
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I must submit to you that through the death of the cross your born again spirit was purchased and redeemed to be God’s own. When God was doing this it was as if He is saying never again shall the born again spirit of man be defiled with sin.

Ephesians 1:13 King James Version (KJV)
13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Romans 8:16 King James Version (KJV)
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Upon you accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savoir your spirit was both purchased and redeemed, while your body and soul were purchased but not redeemed. Your born again spirit is completely delivered (paid for and separated from sin and death by the destruction of the union and the fellowship with the devil), it does not need any more deliverance. The body and the soul are not completely delivered (paid for but not separated from sin and death by the destruction of the union and the fellowship with the devil). Also note that long time after your spirit have been redeemed, the body and the soul may continue in union and fellowship with sin, hence the soul needs to be constantly delivered (separated from sin and death by the destruction of the union and the fellowship with the devil) through the renewal of the mind by the word. The body shall be the last to be delivered (separated from sin and death by the destruction of the union and the fellowship with the devil) on the coming of Christ.

Deleverance ministry is necessary for all persons who have the body and the soul both born again and non born again. For you to understand why both born again and non born again needs deliverance, you must first understand the similarities and differences between a born again and a non born again person.

Similarities : Christ paid the ranson for life and separated both the the born again and a non born again person from the devil by destroying the union and fellowship with sin and death for both. Since Christ paid a rensom for life and separated both from the devil by destroying theer union and fellowship with sin and death, the devil has no legal right to the spirit, body and soul of both.

Differences - Born again - A born again person is a person who has already claimed his/her liberty which in Chris and the devil has no legal right over his/ her life. You must note though that the devil may gain ligal right only to his/her body and soul throug the opening that one may create.

Differences - Non born again - A non born again person is a person who has not yet claim his liberty which is in Christ, and because of that the devil continues to exercise legal right over his spirit, soul and body.

May God's be mercyful and cause the light of His face to shine upon you.
